A Message From The TSA President
I
have been asked on several occasions about the Spring Soccer Season,
more specifically team formation. The team formation will be dependant
on several factors. This is the first spring season for TSA, so no one
really knows how many children will register.
It is sure to be less than the 1100 that registered this fall.
When the numbers are in, it will be easier to determine team
sizes and age brackets. Include
these factors, as well as competing sports, baseball, softball, dance,
etc. It is doubtful that
any team would remain intact from the fall, including both players and
coaches. Also, it is not
in the player’s or TSA’s best interest to remain intact for the
following reasons: Those
teams that played together in the fall, and stayed together through
the spring, and then returned to the fall would have an unfair
advantage over the teams who do not; Also, the team sizes will likely
be smaller than the fall roster, so how do you say which children get
to stay with their original team and which do not?
So, in fairness, and ultimately I think fun (getting to play
with different people, against previous team mates, getting to learn
from different coaching styles, etc.) the spring season will be in a
player scramble format. When
we return in the fall, teams will be organized based upon their
previous fall affiliations, which is no different than before.
This “Spring Scramble” format offers new challenges and
opportunities. I
encourage all children, parents, and coaches to take on this
challenge. With your
support and enthusiasm, we will provide a rewarding new option for the
children of the Texarkana area.
Thank
you
John
